I’m still on a little break until Friday — mostly watching Survivor, if we’re being honest. I feel like I have to say this somewhere, too: the first movie of 2023 for me was Burnt.
As a practice, I don’t make New Years resolutions, or I make the same resolution every year: generally be perfect-slash-better at everything, and if I have to make mistakes at least make some new ones, drink more water, and watch more movies than I did the year before.
This month you can join me for that last one: I’m programming a double feature at Metrograph, the premier movie theater of downtown Manhattan, the number one place for me to run into someone I have not texted back — sorry! — and where I did inexplicably weep during a screening of The Color of Money in 2018. And also where I lost a coat from J. Crew that my dad still asks me what happens to. On January 13, I'm hosting screenings of The Taking of Pelham 123 (the original) and Inside Man.
