On Monday night Nicki Minaj decided she had some explaining to do: our nation’s most talented rapper — and that’s male or female, objectively — did not show up at the Met Gala, and she confided in her 22 million Twitter followers that it was because she declined to get vaccinated to attend the event. (She remains mum on why she didn’t attend the VMAs Sunday night, perhaps strengthening the suspicion that it was because she’s afraid she, and/or her husband, would be served court papers.) “They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. if I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met,” she tweeted. “It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one.”
