Welcome back to Hung Up! This is The Friday Post, my weekly roundup of celebrity mess and miscellanea. This post is too long and will cut off in your email so maybe click here to read it on-site!
Slavery was ‘a choice,’ and so was Slave Play: On Tuesday night, Ye (FKA Kanye West, FKA Kim Kardashian’s husband) and the actress Julia Fox (Uncut Gems, No Sudden Move — still very good and streaming on HBO Max!) took in a Broadway show.
Ye has been, simultaneously and very divorce-dly, dating apace while also asking KKW to take him back. But the romance with Fox is orchestrated differently than courtside spotteds or concert pleas: the pair went out publicly, and brought People along to take exclusive photos of the date. "[Ye] was excited she was there, and they were fully going out after. Julia stayed for the whole after talk,” a “close production source” told People. “She was very supportive and hung out and seemed very happy to be with him." (It must also be said: Slave Play, despite winning no Tonys, is still at the center of a major New York moment — The Inheritance could never!)
Fox, meanwhile, recently accused her ex, Peter Artemiev, of being a deadbeat dad and also maybe cheating on her with his aunt, or generally fucking his aunt. (This part was hard to follow.) Artemiev, via Page Six, denied the allegation that he’s a deadbeat. (He did not address the aunt-fucking allegations.)
After Slave Play and their post-show dinner at Carbone, Julia Fox blogged a first-person essay for Interview about her date with Ye. “Date Night” — 217 words and 15 photographs — is, dare I say it, marvelous? Mystifying? Page Six declared this city Pete Davidson’s New York, but it’s Julia Fox’s Manhattan: she’s a New York girl, doing New York girl things. Dating rappers, seeing shows, eating pasta, and blogging about it. Very Carrie. She understands how the city moves, that seeing an exciting Broadway show is more important than debuting at a premiere or a party, that Carbone is a celeb haunt but also a Deux Moi haunt, and that this kind of exclusive would be wasted on a six slide Instagram carousel. There’s something perfectly fantastical about how old-school this is, how too cool she is.
After the show and during/after dinner, Ye styled and staged a photo shoot for Fox. It’s giving: him coming over to Shia LaBeouf’s house and taking all his clothes, it’s giving him literally throwing out all of Kim’s clothes. It’s giving: Phantom Thread. If the People exclusive is any indication, they expect to be together for a long time.

“How about we log off for the day, Ms. Tina”
After Betty White died last month — in magnificent fashion, at 99, less than a month before her birthday, after she’d already booked the cover of People celebrating her centennial — the Talks With Mama Tina/Knowles matriarch posted a message about White’s death on Instagram. Unfortunately, however, in her Betty White send-off, she posted a photo of Gene Tierney instead.
And then she deleted and reposted, but that photo of Gene Tierney persisted:
Jean-Marc Vallée, director of Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects, and Wild, died on December 25, 2021. He was 58.
One Thing A Man Will Do Is Embarrass You, Part 3819480
Tristan Thompson, who I believe has/had a job playing basketball but is a career Khloé Kardashian embarrass-er, confirmed that he cheated on Khloé and is expecting another child with another woman. He posted an apology:
Men — still in their flop era!
Ariana Grande Licking That Donut And Saying She Hates America
I did not enjoy the film Don’t Look Up — in which Leonardo DiCaprio plays a scientist hot enough to trend online for being hot, and not the reality, where he’s a trending topic for having a truly giant head — but anyway: this is the real Don’t Look Up.
Nancy, there’s people that are dying.
Jason Derulo Has Fallen Down The Steps of:
His own fight with a man calling him Usher. At the Aria, a man yelled “Hey Usher! Fuck you bitch!” to Derulo. Derulo was displeased.
Usher, meanwhile, is absolutely still the toxic light of my life:
Selena Gomez and Ben Affleck Have Something In Common Now
Selena has a back tattoo, too.
The singer FKA Twigs, who, it must be recalled, said her childhood bullies called her “wash and go,” has a new mixtape coming January 14th.
I tried very long and hard to find this tweet but alas; moment of silence for our fallen soldier.
UPDATE: My soldier was found 😇 Thank you @rat_cum1 ❤️
Kacey Musgraves Has A Hot Boyfriend But His Bad Poetry Cannot Be Overlooked, Unfortunately
This is Musgraves’ boyfriend:
This is his poetry:
Your Weekly Sharon!!!!!!
There are not very many Sharons who can deliver a Sharon!!!!!! every week. Thankfully Sharon Stone delivers.
“That’s Fine For Other Girls, I’m Just Not Doing It”
The ultimate Sharon!!!!!!!, devoted Hung Up readers will recall, is when she called Cher ugly in her memoir. Cher also said something iconic and amazing this week:
The fact that she’s saying this, knowing good and damn well grey haired Cher is a little bit of a serve:
Accio my shooters!
I deleted this because it was 1 AM / I had coffee for lunch and I couldn’t sleep / my sister was set up to fail here but I laughed about it for a full 20 minutes:
She — meaning that tweet — was here for a good time, not a long time 😌 SJP is a really good comedic actress and she puts in work as Carrie but let’s be serious Julia clears just from the Soderbergh movies alone.
The Bless His Heart Beat
Leonardo DiCaprio has: A tree
(I must appreciate that this was exactly the kind of shit Adam McKay spent all of Don’t Look Up talking down to us about.)
Leonardo DiCaprio also has: a vacation.
Leonardo DiCaprio does not have: A text back from Rihanna.
That’s all this week. Thank you for reading! This weekend I will be rewatching The Lost Daughter and Gone Girl.
