The onslaught of those W magazine Juergen Teller photos almost made me forget: The Golden Globes are this Sunday. What tricks do those 90 people have up their sleeve!

The pande replay has obviously disrupted the usual award season practices of special screenings, glitzy parties, big premieres, and expensive campaigns. The Washington Post had a piece this week about the absence of any kind of hive mind this year: “The lack of in-person gatherings also means an absence of feedback, experts say. Early in the season, one way to know which contender has momentum is by gauging reactions in a screening or party room — impossible without a literal room.” Everything is upside down this year. “Pretend it’s a city,” Fran Lebowitz says in Martin Scorsese’s miniseries, talking about tourists.
