Was White Boy Summer really so long ago? The government’s 3B curl experiment —Jack Harlow — released his sophomore album today: Come Home The Kids Miss You, 15 songs of Harlow flirting, bragging, reminiscing, pawing at success.
I’m … pleasantly surprised? (Stand up!) Not everything works for me — “Movie Star,” “Young Harleezy” — but there’s something very mall culture about Harlow. It’s like he and Lana Del Rey walked into the same suburban mall and she went into Dillards and he loitered outside Aéropostale wearing layered polos. Culturally, he seems more like a descendent of Asher Roth than, say, Eminem. Also: best Drake verse in years!
