Why lie? I’ve been distracted all pandemic/year/season/week and I simply cannot believe the Oscars are this Sunday. The sheer audacity of asking me to watch Glenn Close lose her eighth Oscar — or worse, win her first Oscar.
One of my favorite Oscar-related factoids is the number of trophies that have been lost or turned up missing. The Academy once told The Hollywood Reporter that “more than half of the statuettes given out over 87 years have gone missing one way or another.” I have been keeping this running list:
