All day, I felt a steady thrum of “What is Hunter Harris going to make of the glorious WTFery of Timothee’s acceptance speech?”Thank you for looping us in! (Personally,I found it akin to the end of Dune 2—the dawning revelation that he’s up to no damn good.)
it was good! but i wonder how much of that good will for someone who wants it is dependent on someone who is going (adrien brody has the same energy and people seemed turned off by it)
absolutely agree about kierans speeches. was maybe cute the first time but im over it !! if you’re going to be committing category fraud at this level, we need an ounce of gratitude pls !!!!
I am not really that familiar with Chalamet's work (sorry to Club Chalamet!) but I appreciate that speech because I always appreciate seeing people having a drive for greatness in their craft.
Every time I read reactions to Kieran's speeches I think about a roundtable that included Matthew Macfayden, Pedro Pascal, Culkin and some others. The moderator asked the group to describe how they memorize lines, Culkin (in his fashion) went on about how boring that must be for audiences to listen to. Macfayden chimed in to explain that the process and method may actually be the thing that is interesting to people but is rarely explained and Pascal pulled out his workbook to show how he memorizes lines. Culkin immediately understood and became an engaged listener.
Dude always expresses how grateful he is (typically in the last 5-10 seconds of his speeches) but I chalk the disillusionment to acting to him being a Culkin. A lot of his behavior reminds me of Miley Cyrus as of late. Talented people who have had to learn how to change their relationship with their profession and the reward system attached (validation, awards, etc).
one small step for timmy, one giant leap for ms club. truly her night & no one can take that away from her!
not to bring some twitter Discourse to this sacred space but i liked timmy’s speech. never expected him to give a speech that was so memorable* (not q the word i mean but it’s what came to my mind) or to even share those sentiments (which is silly of me because looking at his actions & his work, it feels obvious now? idk)
shouted GOOD! when I read chat is paid for Sunday. can't wait.
Calling Kylie “slurpie” is so funny to me like what in the code names
something about a sweet drink? like how that makes sense is beyond me
I think it's a gas station reference 😇

Will never recover from "Miss Club" as a moniker for CC

Quiet request to reset the Oscars chat once or twice, as after 3000ish responses it really lags
And yet, I feel like Adrien Brody has been perpetually 45 for at least 2 decades now.

Also, as confirmed by extreme Dune nerd husband, it takes place “tens of thousands of years in the future”. You could say CC is…prescient.
